CAFCASS

In the UK, CAFCASS (Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service) are part of many family court cases. They are part of the Ministry of Justice.

These are case quotes from CAFCASS. There are so many more. They will be added as when time allows.

1. CAFCASS about my abuser :

"<my abuser’s name> has reported historic and current mental health difficulties and reports that one reason for wanting to be a parent was to improve her social and interpersonal relationships."

2. CAFCASS about my abuser :

"She was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder about 5 years ago and was on medication but stopped before trying for a baby. She was previously open to mental health and had CBT which helped. She suffers from anxiety and is currently on anti-depressants. She wanted to have a child to get out of a rut and to reconnect with people. <baby name> is making her happy."

My note: I have great sympathy with her issues but children shouldn't be used as a mental health treatment.

3. CAFCASS about my abuser:

“It is important that <child’s name> is not used as a way of coping with her own emotional difficulties, as this may result in unintentional neglect or emotional harm if <child’s name> ceases to meet this need for her mum.”
