Cognitive Concerns

The following is from the court ordered psychologist report…

My conclusion at the end. Her cognitive assessment said:

“Full Scale IQ

3. <my abuser’s name>'s overall level of intellectual functioning as estimated by the Full-Scale IQ is seen to fall in the Low Average range, equal to or above 23% of her peers. (FSIQ= 89; 95% confidence interval 85-93).

Verbal Reasoning Skills

4. <my abuser’s name>’s verbal reasoning abilities as measured by the Verbal Comprehension Index (VCI) are in the Average range and above those of 32% of her peers (VCI = 93; 95% confidence interval = 88-99).

Non-Verbal Reasoning Skills

5. <my abuser’s name>’s nonverbal reasoning abilities as measured by the Perceptual Reasoning Index (PRI) are in the Average range and above those of 25% of her peers (PRI= 90; 95% confidence interval = 84-97).

Working Memory

6. <my abuser’s name>’s ability to sustain attention, concentrate, and exert mental control is in the Low Average range. She performed better than approximately 13% of her peers in this area (Working Memory Index (WMI) = 83; 95% confidence interval 77-91).

Processing Speed

7. <my abuser’s name>’s ability in processing simple or routine visual material without making errors is in the Average range when compared to her peers. She performed better than approximay 50% of her peers on the processing speed tasks (Processing Speed Index [PSI] = 100; 95% confiteldence interval 92-103).”

The report also said:

“<my abuser’s name> completed the Paulhus Deception Scales (PDS) which is a standardised and validated self-report questionnaire that identifies individuals who when responding to assessments and rating scales distort their responses. The assessment yields two subscale scores, and a total score. The subscales are Impression Management (IM), tapping the desire to present positively to others, and Self-Deceptive Enhancement (SDE). The SDE scale taps self-deception in the sense of a pervasive lack of self-insight. <my abuser’s name> scores were elevated in the SDE scale which looks at difficulties with self-insight. The Impression management scale was not clinically elevated.”

My Conclusion

In summary, my abuser’s:

• IQ is only higher than 23% of people

• verbal reasoning skills are only better than 32% of people

• non-verbal skills are only better than 25%

• working memory is only better than 13% of people

• The Self-Deceptive Enhancement measurement shows she has difficulties with self-insight

The psychological report (see ‘Psychologist’ tab) also shows my abuser has a history of:

• anger

• bipolar

• anxiety

• being enraged

• suicidal thoughts

• self-harm

• depression

• paranoia

The court judgments shows she had:

• gaslighted and undermined me

• attempted fraud against me

• told false and malicious allegations about me

• had attempted parental alienation

It is a frightening combination. I think most people would be frightened by it. I am.

Her traits manifested in the behaviour over the last 6 years and were there many years before I met her. Her GP asked her to tell me of them but she didn’t. A mental health team visited her in the maternity ward but nobody told me. I only learned through experiencing abuse and alienation. UK authorities knew there were risks to my daughter and I but they did nothing, even after the court trial found I had done nothing wrong and that she had abused me and tried to alienate our child.

We got no protection so she has been able to create incredible damage for 6 years.

In court she referred to police evidence of her 17 malicious calls as ‘just their opinion’ and made an official complaint about a CAFCASS officer. She told the psychologist she does not accept the court findings of what she had done.

If she cannot accept what she has done she will not change. I have offered to work with her with mediation and any experts we need but she refuses. Despite years of abuse I never retaliated in any way and I have continued to offer mediation since 2018 to resolve things.

We have never rowed in person or sworn at each other or made personal insults - nothing. I have never been in a situation like this and I am frightened of her. The UK authorities, although seeing the issues and abuse, have done nothing to support or protect.

Still, despite her actions and the damage done I just want peace for our daughter.

The UK family court saw her make false allegations and uncovered lies to authorities way back in 2019. Because they did nothing she got worse and worse. They enabled the abuse.

The system needs change. I don’t take what happened personally. Similar and worse happens to many others in the broken UK family court system.
